When Conor woke up in Intensive Care completely paralysed, one of the first questions he asked was if he would still be able to attend his semi formal. At the time the question seemed heartbreaking and the future seemed very uncertain.
Since then this event has loomed large in Conor’s plans.
Last night Conor made it to his semi formal in style with his beautiful formal partner Alexandra.
As far as his parents know a great night was had by all - but this was Conor’s night and hovering parents were definitely kept at an arm’s length!
The night coincided with Conor’s 17th birthday which made it all the more special. Conor was greeted with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” at the “pre” (pre semi formal function) at Mary and Geoff Seawright’s home.
Conor said he had a great night and felt very lucky with his choice of partner, Alexandra Fraser.
It was a late night back to the Spinal Unit and a rather slow start the next morning. Fortunately all therapy was switched to the afternoon to allow for a sleep in. Conor’s friends dropped by after school for the mandatory social debrief of the night.
Bec and Sean say it was brilliant and and went as well for Conor as they could have possibly hoped.
